Bridges were developed to overcome geographical obstacles. Bridges, which have many forms, have made the earth, which is divided into parts by waterways and valleys, more livable. Some have been built to allow crossing from one side of the river to the other, some to switch between the slopes that make up a great valley, and some to drive cars or trains without going down the ground along a long route. For this reason, there are many different designs and sizes of bridges due to their construction purposes and where they are built.

There are also wooden bridges built to cross a tiny creek, and concrete bridges stretching over the sea for tens of kilometers. No matter how different their dimensions or purposes are, their basic engineering is very close.

We can classify bridges in many different ways. While some bridges are built only for people to pass on foot, some drive vehicle traffic, and even many are built to allow trains to pass. While some are only a few meters long, some extend for miles. There are also those made of wood, or those made using steel or concrete. Many different styles of bridges have been built, from the simplest beam bridges to traditional suspension bridges, from arch-bridges that stand out with stone workmanship, to cable-stayed bridges based on modern architectural foundations. All of them made people freer.

However, the largest, highest, or longest ones of all kinds of structures always attract more attention. We have put together the longest bridges in the world and listed them for you. There are many different types of bridges, and we have prepared our list considering all of them. Driving in a tunnel creates some sense of distress, on the contrary, long-distance driving on a bridge also creates a sense of freedom.
