Born in Porterville, California, as Richard Saturnino Owens, Rick Owens studied art at Otis College of Art and Design and then launched his own fashion line in 1994. He moved to Paris in 2003 with his wife Michèle Lamy and began appearing on the Paris fashion scene with striking designs.
Rick Owens' designer spirit is not only limited to fashion, it is possible to understand his approaches from the industrial lines of the clothes he designed. In 2005, he unveiled his furniture collection inspired by California skate parks. The pieces, which are more like works of art than furniture, were exhibited at the Musée d'Art modern in Paris and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
