Notes from Lupita Nyong'o's career
Starting her career with short films, Lupita Nyong'o starred in five episodes of the Kenyan drama “Shuga”, which aired between 2009 and 2012. During this period, she completed her acting education at Yale University.
Lupita Nyong'o made her film debut in 2013 with Steve McQueen's “12 Years a Slave”, which won three Oscars. Lupita Nyong'o, who was nominated for many awards for her performance in this movie, managed to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Lupita Nyong'o portrayed the character of Maz Kanata in the movie “Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens” in 2015.
