Historic Hiking Adventures has announced a walking tour of the ruins, forts and museums of Hadrian's Wall across northern England for April 22-28, 2018. Designed specifically for those seeking to experience the northernmost ruins of the Roman Empire in a comfortable setting, the 24-mile trek features an optional luxury coach, daily luggage transport and nightly stays at the finest area accommodations, including the famed four-star Vermont Hotel in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne.

"While Hadrian's Wall has become a must-do for serious trekkers of every origin, our goal is to make this archeological treasure accessible to hikers with varying experience and ability," says Tour Leader and Historic Hiking Adventures Founder Matt Durfee. "We are very excited to offer a one-of-a-kind experience that will immerse each guest in the enchantment of scenic trails and historical sites by day, while providing the comfort of luxurious hotel accommodations and quaint country inns each evening."

Hadrian's Wall is a 73-mile stone barrier built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian on the northern border of Brittany beginning in 122 A.D. and cutting entirely across northern England from the North Sea to the Irish Sea. A well-maintained historic walking trail follows the wall's ruins through the countryside and several small villages, with some sections passing through the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle. The ruins of numerous forts, milecastles, turrets and earthworks bring this major feat of Roman engineering to life. The path also leads to friendly local pubs, market towns and plenty of breathtaking views.

Durfee, one of only three American-born members of The Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne, has been leading guided group excursions along Hadrian's Wall since 2010.
