While we're camping in the mountains, sunbathing on the beach, and even watching television at home, we don't want to hear mosquitos flying around us, but, of course, the solution to that shouldn't be to kill them. PARA’KITO developed mosquito repellents by using natural-based active ingredients to keep mosquitos away from its users. I talked with Patrick Goguillon, CEO of PARA’KITO USA Corp., about PARA’KITO Mosquito Repellents.

Patrick, before talking about PARA’KITO, could you tell us about your background and yourself? Who is Patrick Goguillon?

Patrick Goguillon, CEO of PARA’KITO USA Corp.

I was born in France and did my business school in Paris. I then worked for 10 years in the Asia Pacific in fast moving consumer goods categories before moving to the US in 2001.

How did you first interested in mosquito repellents? What inspired you?

I have always been interested in bringing “good for you” products to consumers. I discovered PARA’KITO during one of my trips to Europe and brought it to the US in 2014.

Could you tell us about PARA’KITO?

PARA’KITO is a mosquito repellent line that specializes in using natural-based active ingredients in all of its products to ensure consumers are sufficiently protected in a harmless manner that fits effortlessly into a person’s life. Could you tell us about the features of Mosquito Repellent Bracelets and Clips?

The re-fillable pellets operate by releasing a blend of essential oils that interfere with mosquitoes' sense of smell, thereby reducing their capacity to identify their prey. Mosquitoes’ orientation relies on a combination of olfaction, heat detection and vision, which means that spatial protection products can offer relative, but not absolute, protection. Each of these pellets lasts for up to 15 days to ward off mosquitos.

Another form of Mosquito Repellent is Roll-On. What are the advantages of using Roll-On? Do we need it while using bracelets or clips?

The roll-on gel has been specifically developed for cases of high infestation situations. This super-smart gel works both as a barrier and a mask. Applied directly to exposed areas of skin like the ankles, wrists, face, and neck, it immediately forms a physical barrier between you and the mosquito that lasts up to five hours. As the natural oils’ active ingredients are released into the air around you, they also help to mask the scents of your breath and body, making it harder for mosquitoes to find you. In situations of high infestation the gel can be used in conjunction with the bracelet and clips to ensure full coverage, or on its own to protect exposed skin.

You have applied this technology to three different products. Are there any differences in their influence area or usage? How can we decide which is the right one for us?

Each band is a different size and is made from different materials. The Adult band is ideal for adults to wear everyday, while the “Kids band” is geared toward children up to seven years old. Each adult and kids band come in a variety of colors and patterns and are made from Neoprene. The Sport band is sized to fit wrist, ankle, and upper arm, and is equipped with reflective strips and an ID tag for added safety. The Party Edition band is meant to enhance your style while warding off mosquitos and is a stylish twist on the Adult band. And finally, the Roll-On Gel is best for exposed areas of skin - such as the ankles, wrists, and neck.

What are you paying attention to protect nature while designing and producing mosquito repellents?

Our planet is an incomparable well of resources and enjoyment. Self Regenerating but fragile.
