Audi and E.ON team up to build Europe's Largest Rooftop Photovoltaic System

AUDI has taken another step further for its 2030 goals and decided to build Europe's largest photovoltaic rooftop system on the roof of two logistics centers in Gyor, Hungary. Construction works of the project, which will cover an area of 160,000 square meters, will start with the cooperation of E.ON in August 2019 and will have a peak output of 12 megawatts when completed.

The project, which is planned to be completed at the beginning of 2020, will consist of 35,000 solar cells and will generate 9.5 GWh of electricity per year. This is an energy production that can meet the annual energy requirement of 5,000 households.

Audi Hungaria plant in Gyor, which will host Europe's largest solar photovoltaic system installed on a building, currently provides 70% of its heat requirements from geothermal sources. By 2030, Audi aims to ensure that all production centers use alternative energy to be climate neutral.
