DeLorean is proof of how a brand can become one of the unforgettable with a single model and its few unique features. With the gullwing doors and silver color, DeLorean has made a mark in our memories with its asphalt-burning acceleration. And the DeLorean DMC-12 has completed its time travel and returned 40 years later with a brand new look and next-generation features. And the DeLorean Alpha5 EV definitely looks like it came from the future.
Carrying the DNA of the DMC-12, the DeLorean Alpha5 EV was introduced to the public for the first time at the 71st Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Pebble Beach visitors witnessed the return of a legend.
Developed in collaboration with DeLorean Motor Company and Italdesign, the all-electric Alpha5 EV retains its gullwing doors, three-layered taillights and classic rear louvers. Experience gained in the development of Alpha2 roadster (1996), Alpha3 luxury sedan (2006) and Alpha4 SUV (2013) concept vehicles is embodied in the fully electric DeLorean Alpha5 EV. All three of these concept cars were showcased at Pebble Beach.
The DeLorean Alpha5 EV will offer a range of approximately 300 miles (482.8 km) with a 100kWH battery. The Alpha5 EV, which can accelerate to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) in 2.99 seconds, is expected to reach a maximum speed of 155 mph (249.45 km/h). The all-wheel-drive feature optimizes the vehicle's handling and driving comfort.
DeLorean Motor Company's new all-electric vehicle, the DeLorean Alpha5 EV, is expected to hit the roads in 2024.
