Prima Pramac Racing rider Jorge Martin managed to win his second consecutive pole position at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia after the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Jorge Martin, who broke the lap record of Sepang International Circuit with a lap time of 01'57,7900, will start the race from the first place.
Gresini Racing MotoGP rider Enea Bastianini, a Ducati bike team like Prima Pramac Racing, finished second in qualifying. Repsol Honda Team rider Marc Marquez took third place in qualifying, becoming the last rider to start the race on the first line.
Championship leader Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia qualified to start the race in ninth place, despite being down in qualifying. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo, who is second in the general classification, felt the effects of his free practice crash and finished 12th in qualifying.
